Arriving in Bwindi by late afternoon, you’ll check in at Rushaga Gorilla Lodge, your comfortable base for the next two nights. Spend the evening relaxing amidst the sounds of the forest, preparing for the excitement of gorilla trekking the following day. Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Community Walk

Wake early for breakfast and then head to the park headquarters for a comprehensive briefing by expert park rangers about gorilla trekking safety and protocols. Set off into the dense, mist-covered forest accompanied by armed rangers and trackers. The trek duration can vary greatly—from 2 to 8 hours—depending on the gorillas’ location, but every moment is filled with anticipation and awe.

Once you encounter your assigned gorilla family, you’ll spend an unforgettable hour observing their social behavior—silverbacks commanding respect, playful youngsters, and nurturing mothers. After the trek, return to the lodge to rest. In the late afternoon, visit the nearby Batwa pygmy community, where you’ll learn about their traditional customs, music, and forest survival skills. This cultural immersion enriches your understanding of Uganda’s indigenous peoples and their deep connection to the forest.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha Sector

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before departing Bwindi for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Your route takes you through the Ishasha Sector, famous for its rare tree-climbing lions—a unique behavior not often seen in other parks. These majestic predators often lounge on large fig trees during the heat of the day, creating exceptional photographic moments.

Arrive at Lake Munyanyange Caves Lodge, a tranquil lodge offering spectacular views over the park’s rolling plains and the crater lake. After lunch, set out for an afternoon game drive through the savannah, spotting elephants, buffaloes, lions, hippos, and a variety of bird species. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

After lunch, embark on a relaxing boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a 36-kilometer natural waterway linking Lake George and Lake Edward. Witness large pods of hippos wallowing in the water, crocodiles basking on the banks, and herds of elephants bathing alongside the river. The channel is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with malachite kingfishers, pink-backed pelicans, and numerous other species. Return to your lodge in the evening to enjoy dinner and rest.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive, Baboon Cliffs Visit & Transfer to Kibale Forest

After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth NP, soaking in the landscapes and spotting any animals you may have missed. Then visit the stunning Baboon Cliffs lookout, offering panoramic views over the savannah and crater lakes—an ideal spot for photos and quiet reflection.

In the afternoon, drive approximately 2 to 3 hours to Kibale Forest National Park, Uganda’s renowned primate hotspot. Check into Turaco Treetops Lodge, situated on the forest edge, known for its wildlife platforms and the chance to spot chimpanzees and other primates right from the lodge grounds. Enjoy dinner and prepare for the chimp trekking adventure the following day.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking & Return to Entebbe

Rise early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing on chimpanzee trekking. Set off on a guided trek through the lush forest, spotting chimps as well as other primates like red-tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, and perhaps even elusive golden monkeys. Birdlife here is also exceptional, making for a richly rewarding wildlife encounter.

After trekking, embark on the scenic drive back to Entebbe, passing through rural villages, tea plantations, and rolling hills. Stop for lunch in Mubende before continuing to your final destination. Your guide will drop you off at the airport or your accommodation, marking the end of your unforgettable Ugandan safari.
